My date went just fine. Dinner was nice, conversation was nice, the company was nice. Really. It was all going well.

Until the escalator at Barnes & Noble ate the hem of my favourite dress.

NOT how I wanted to end the evening.

Oh - sorry I kept calling! (Unless it made you seem even more popular than usual!) I hope the hungry escalator did not leave you in merely a petticoat, though - or less. If so, that might've indeed "sucked". Or perhaps it would have been rather endearing... ;-)

Who was the date with, and how exactly did you want the date to end?

It's much better if clothes come off NOT in the Barnes and Noble. And an escalator wouldn't be my first choice of things to nibble on me at the end of a date, either.

Sorry babe - is it just going to be a bit shorter now, or was there deep embarrassment as well as shredding that happened?

Not to be too Pollyanna with the looking on the bright side thing, but it's a funny first-date story if it works out. Actually, if it *doesn't* work out, maybe you can just say the escalator was trying to tell you something. ;)

But, honestly, do you think a nice, normal, boring date would be a true reflection of you, after all? Might as well get 'em used to it right off, is what I say... :)
