Well, just a few hours into the new Tour, and we've already lost one rider-- using a cream with a banned substance, which sounds a bit harsh, but...-- and had two bloodied. But 197 men have torn up the course, and in the end, Fabian Cancellara, the Swiss SaxoBank rider, did it best. He came in at ten minutes flat, looking enormous on his bike, and blowing away the time of Tony Martin, which'd stood for most of the day. Rounding out the top five we have Brit rider David Millar in third, in fourth, Lance Armstrong. Fifth: Geraint Thomas of Team Sky. Lance's much-discussed rival, Alberto Contador, crossed with a time that put him in a close sixth.
Very exciting, very clean, and a great taste of things to come!
