I'm sure, at the moment, Marble and Simon have gotten over despising me. But for a while there, it was touch and go: first vet visit in over four years this morning.

For all Simon is a mere ten pounds of kitty love, he is unbelievably strong. It took three of us to try holding him for a blood draw, and we still couldn't get him to stay still. Marble behaved herself far better, but I'm not sure this wasn't out of sheer terror. I'm also not sure the both of them didn't blow half their coats all over my velvet dress. This is, of course, not counting the enormous, tribble-like chunks shaved off their necks for the draw. I mean, gosh, who knew you could shear cats like angora goats? I didn't. And I believe it was a complete surprise to the cats themselves. Their pride is, of course, quite shaken: they look like a kitty-vampire took an enormous bite out of their necks, but came away with no more than a mouth full of fur. I can only imagine the stories they're telling Tekiah.

Simon has retreated to his corner of the couch to meditate on the vagaries of humans. Marble is self-medicating with head-butts, leg slinks, and piteous cries for attention: the usual. The dog just wants to make sure this bizarre reversal-- cats leaving, dog staying-- was a strictly-one-time anomaly. And Tekiah? She doesn't give a damn, as long as it didn't involve her.

But she's next.

I was joking before that I couldn't lift my arms.

I'm not joking any more. Just whimpering.

Ow. Ow. ...Ow.
