Still, I'm way out of my league with the Mac stuff. The last I worked with them was with System 6.5. And I've never had to deal with Mac data at a micro level.

In fact, it'd be vastly preferable if it weren't a laptop, not least for the reason that you'd have another hard drive to run diagnostics from. And it'd be better if it were a PC because there are no high-level hard drive hardware utilities which run on the Macintosh's PPC architecture or OS. It's all moot because of this (http://ysobelle.livejournal.com/200933.html?thread=1140965#t1140965), however.
