Back at work. It's like I never left.

Found this: http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=the+sultan%27s+elephant It's google video of The Sultan's Elephant. I hope it comes back to London next year, but alas, I'm pretty sure it won't. Also, I know Helen and Em&Redhead and Matt and Kat are interested in coming with me next time, but who else? Planning the next trip keeps me from mourning too much the end of this one. Whimper.

I put up my Tube map, and map of the V&A. Put some more photos on http://www.flickr.com/photos/ysobelle . More yet to come.

Whine, whine.

Nicki, meet Hans. Hans, Nicki.

You should go read [livejournal.com profile] chaosvizier, if you don't already. :)

Plus, he's a minor LJ celeb by virtue of being one of the authors of the LJ Daily Quiz, which is not daily but still fun. :)

I need an anglophile icon. And one for tea.

And your next trip? We'd be in, maybe...we'd planned on going next August anyway, so my husband can take UVA's Seminar at Oxford on all things Shakespeare.

Also, you're aware of the American Shakespeare Center in Staunton, VA, right, wherein they've built the replica of the Blackfriars and are in process of recreating the 1614 Globe? When they're done, they claim it will be the only place in the world where you can see Shakespeare as it was performed in his time. ~swooon~

^^
How's this one? If you have Mac OS 10.4, that icon comes with it, as well as dozens of other flags and cool things. Also, if you use .Mac, there is a spectacular, members-only icon set with kanji and all sorts of other stuff.

Ysobelle and I went to college with Staunton's American Shakespeare Center's development director. As such, I've been to Blackfriars many times, and even sat in one of the Lords' Chairs for a couple performances. Being a groundling, or getting one of the seats actually on the stage is fun too though.

The only place...? I dunno-- I think the folks in Southwark might have something to say about that!

And yes, come with! It's going to be-- sigh!-- utterly lovely.

My hubby is drooling over the M.Litt program they have at Mary Baldwin for teaching, acting, or directing the Bard. :)

Anyway, the "only place in the world" thing is a claim they make on their website -- I don't know if it alludes to the fact that it's going to have the indoor and outdoor theatres within walking distance of one another, or wot. (Am woefully underedumacated on this one -- ask de [livejournal.com profile] tombeaux, he knows everything. LOL)

Already planning our trip for next year, but I think it'll be a mega-trip. The DH has never been to the UK despite his anglophilia, and I want him to do that UVA program at Oxford, so it'll probably be that for the first week and then traipsing about London and Edinburgh in turn thereafter. (I could spend YEARS in Edinburgh, I think. LOVE that city.)

I am DYING to get to Edinburgh. It's on my wishlist for next year-- we shall see! And by the way, do you have any pictures of YOU?
