I guess I was having too much fun.
May. 4th, 2006 01:06 amSomeone's hacked my credit card. And cleaned me out.
Thank G-d it's a joint account with my Mom (long story), so she can call the bank and work on this. But who the hell steals a credit card number to run up a $200 tab at Ancestry.com? And $300 at TigerDirect.com?
And most of the photos from the costume collection came out blurry, dammit. Still, I'll post some, They're yummy. Sadly, not much is on display, all told. And half the room was closed while they set up an exhibit of 60s clothing, which doesn't thrill me anyway. Still.
Gah.
Full update later.

Date: 2006-05-04 02:19 am (UTC)The bank should be able to put the funds back directly, and overnight you a new card.. It sucks for a short time, but when this happened to me in Feb, everything was cleared up most riki tiki!

A suggestion from the English hubby....
Date: 2006-05-04 03:41 am (UTC)He said that you should always keep your card in sight even if it means walking the card to the machine with a waiter because they are notorious for "double swiping" cards with a pager sized card swiper. If you see anyone do this with your cards you should call the police immediately. You might want to go through where and when the charges started, that may help the autorities narrow it down. He also said that if they refuse you can tell them that you aren't leaving your card with them and that you can prove you name and address and they will be forced to send the bill there so you can send payment. :) My hubby can be a real asshole when he wants to be but he said if they call the police they will tell them that if you want to watch your card being swiped to prevent it from being hacked then will either have to let you watch or send you the bill.
I'm sorry that this is messing with your vacation.
