Ah, [livejournal.com profile] foxglove_8778's wedding dress.

As I've grumbled many times, I do not like to sew. I find it vaguely boring, and making mistakes-- which I do, Oh, how I do-- makes me inordinately furious, and often makes the animals tremble. I have vaporised things in my wrath, and have learned that not having enough of the right size of machine needle (and by "enough" I mean "at least four packages") is A Very Bad Thing. Needles break more when I'm angry. It's just a thing.

So when something goes right, I mean, really, over the top right, it's a wild endorphin rush like...well, you know. It's like every aesthetic wire's been tripped at once. My psyche starts doing the "Get on down witcher bad self, mama!" dance. I'm happy.

The current project does, sadly, have one annoying glitch I have to patch rather than fix, but I'm going to think of it more as the deliberate flaw that derails the hubris of earthly perfection. Because it's pretty damned close to that ideal.

I am overwhelmingly glad of the assistance of the fabulous [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], who has kept me company and kept me focussed and been of invaluable assistance the last couple of weeks. Today, she and the glorious and invaluable [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] beaded the entire wedding skirt: a job which had me in a wide-eyed thrall of anticipated fear since I decided a week or so ago that I wanted some glitter on the dress. Bless Stacey at Zoll's: she gave us a very good deal on genuine Swarovski crystals, and a special glue to affix them.

All that remains now is to finish the hem, and the top. Of course, I only have Monday and Tuesday nights, as Wednesday is the seder, and I may go out to Carlisle on Thursday, depending on how much we have to do once I'm there. And, of course, somewhere in there, I have to hem my own skirt.

But for once, I won't be going to bed thinking, "I'm such a slacker. I could have gotten more done today." Well, okay, yes, I could have, but they tend to dislike it when I fall asleep at my desk. Besides...Clue's exhausted. I should shut down before she recharges.

It's been a good weekend.

You said "Wednesday is the seder". Well this Saturday will be my first time attending a Passover seder! I don't know how *traditional* it will be, but I'm excited.

I was surprised to hear you "don't like to sew". I assume you used to - or is it one of those things where you're so good at it, that you endure the process solely for the results thereof?

I wish that I too, could have helped you this weekend - I am a real whiz with Ronco's Sequin-O-Matic. (Remember that outlandish silver lamé outfit I made for the Halloween PCP?)

Well, enough reminiscing... looking futureward, this may enhearten you: T-minus 19 days!
