Walk the city.
Fill my one-gig card with photographs.
East at the King's Road Jam in Chelsea.
Spend a day at the V&A in the costume department. (Did y'all know Philly is getting its own costume & textile wing at the Art Museum? YAY!)
Take the tour of Shakespeare's Globe and Exhibit.
Camden Lock market.
See who's playing at a local club and maybe go.
Have tea. A nice cream tea somewhere.
Spend a day in Bath. Spend a day at Jane Austen's house.
Spend a day in Stratford.


Sigh. I need another few weeks there....



I won't breathe completely easy until I have my passport in hand, though.

Love love LOVE the V&A Museum's garb pron exibit. Much goodness. I just wanted to touch it all. Damn that plexiglass. heehee British Museum is also a fav for all the mummies.

Excellent ideas! This is going to be a blast!! And a passport is helpful - it sucked having to reschedule my last Japan trip because they were so slow with mine. How does paying for FedEx both ways and the expedite fee for "same-day" processing, equal getting it five weeks later?? Cost me almost $300. Grrr.

But just off the top of my head, don't forget the Fashion and Textile Museum (www.ftmlondon.org/); Fabric (www.fabriclondon.com); and one of my fave eateries, Wagamama. And The Jam sounds great - I think I was there once, but I may be thinking of the Chelsea Italian Kitchen, a few doors down on King's Road.

Consider getting another memory card, too - I filled four one-gig cards in Japan, and ran out of space on the last one the last day there...

You want to visit the Saatchi Gallery and Dali World if it is still there. They are both across the bridge from Big Ben and all that stuff. =) Those were two of my favorite things when we were in London.
London has become more and more like New York City any more. Just older and with more shoe shops. Seriously, there is a shoe shop every other store... Ok I may be exagerrating, but there are a lot of them.

Much to my dismay upon our last visit all of the kewl gothy stores on Carnaby Circus and Oxford streets seem to have disappeared somewhere and were replaced with a myriad of generic wanker clothes and 10,000 shoe stores for paris hilton wannabe's. I heard rumours that the kewl stores are in the Camden area now. Beyond that I have no clue.

I think we thought we'd passed it already or something, and that's why we went to Chelsea Kitchen. It also was good, IF you are looking for (as their website says) "authentic Italian cuisine adapted for the British palate"! That begs so many questions that I don't even know where to start!! But as for the Jam, I'm not sure it's within my budget, but if you say it's good, I trust you.

A memory card will be much more expensive there; plus it doesn't help if you run out of memory space at the top of the London Eye and the clouds part miraculously for a moment! ;-)

But hell yeah, Nikki and I are definitely going to Camden to patronize the Black Rose, Pink Fluffy, Shoe Tout (which also has used stuff cheap), and of course, the original DarkSide! And "New Rock" - don't know them. Are Doc Martens passe yet?

And Dali World is still there. I want to go, but have reservations about spending too much time there, after having been to the actual Dali Museums so many times.

My suitcase is bigger than Nikki's, and I'm bringing far fewer clothes, so it might be a better fit...

But seriously, as of 20 seconds ago, you could still buy a seat on the exact same plane, for only US $565. And the Piccadilly hostel still has beds for only £12 - if you can deal with eight to a room - so it needn't be nearly as expensive as all that.

When I ran out of memory space in CO, I found a photo developing place and burned them to a CD. (Ok, several CDs.) For a whole lot less than the cost of a second memory card.

I'm betting there *are* places to do the same thing in London, if you're willing to take the time and don't think you'll need the memory card later. :)

That's an excellent idea - and in London, there presumably wouldn't be the language difficulty that prevented me from doing exactly that in Asia. However, CDs are still bigger, heavier, and prone to breakage when one travels with only a backpack. And gigabyte CF cards are as low as $40. Also, such an option doesn't help if one runs out of space at the summit of Mt. Fuji or other inaccessible spot. ;-) I do keep those otherwise-useless, tiny-capacity cards that come with most cameras, so I can squeeze in a couple more shots if necessary.
