I was passive-agressive in a phone call, but I may have gotten across enough of a point. Not that it makes a difference.
Discussed with Emily the idea of my getting a hotel room where the reception will be, so we can all have a place to get ready. Not that I'd mind sleeping on your couch, Helen! I'm just worried about the longhairs-to-bathroom ratio.
I argued my trip with my parents, which clarified some points for me. I rebooked it, taking out the Edinburgh trip as I'd like to spend more time in Edinburgh and actually be awake for it; and the Stonehenge/Windsor/Bath trip, as I'd like to make that a full day in Bath. I wonder if I have time to reread all my Jane Austen before I go? Anyway, the cost is now $1500 and change. I still have hotel, airfare, transfers, and Les Miz.
I pulled out my old grad school textbook, and some random costume books, which proved to be exactly the ones I needed to draft the pattern for Emily's skirt. On graph paper, that is. In pure numbers. Next I determine the layout, then cut the muslin, do the mockup and fitting, and THEN take the silk out. I'm not TOUCHING that stuff til I'm SURE. I'd say more, but I'm not allowed to talk about the dress. Muhaha!
Why am I not asleep?

E.g., I will book (reserve) any flight willy-nilly, just to see if I can actually get on a plane at an advertised price. But I'll occasionally purchase a ticket just on a whim to "hard-reserve" it; but as a OnePass elite memeber, I can also cancel any ticket within 24 hours.
I totally agree with the modifications you made to the trip! Stonehenge - a bunch of rocks, can't even see it - all cordoned off anyway! And Windsor - bah. I was never impressed.
But the top three things I've seen in England are: 1) Bath!! (It makes one think, How sophisticated the Romans were, how clueless their leaders were, and how the fall of empire threw the world into chaos for nearly a millenium - kinda makes ya think about the USA today, hm?) 2) The ruin of Kenilworth Castle. I got choked up when I walked the halls and touched the very walls which once housed Elizabeth Regina. 3) Monica Lewinsky. I met her in a bookstore on Oxford Street.
