I find this unutterably depressing.

Certain methods of torture and interrogation are needed. Certain less than human methods are needed to coerce terrorists into giving up names places and contact information. I would rather see a man tortured to save hundreds than those hundreds die....actually I would rather see soldiers come home. But back on topic. What constitutes illegal interrogation methods to the HRW? Water torture, drugs, Psychological games, and others are routinely employeed.
What people need to realize is that alot of these men are simply hardened criminals who would kill every single person in the US who doesnt see the world as they do. Now does that allow the US to beat them half to death and than come back the day after and do it again? No it doesnt.
So What needs to be clarified is the HRW illegal interrogation methods and to what extent are they being employed.
a small personal story,
A few months back a Colonal in the US Army in Iraq was dismissed because he took a loaded gun to a mans head and discharged it close enough to blow out the mans eardrum. This man was part of a plot to ambush US soldiers. My cousin was in that room, My cousin was also one of the men that was saved that day. So as you can see I am very conflicted in my opinion, on one hand I would like for the US to be above using certain interogation tactics, however on the other hand I also see the need for them.
Less of our boys in pine boxes means more smiling mothers and wives on the day when the forces are brought home. Using these techniques could also mean averting another 9/11 or something much worse.
ok
devils advocate over and done with
I also am appalled but i find it hard to be sickened.
Ive seen what happened at ground zero. I went up to help out and unfortunately was turned away but i saw it first hand. The bodies in bags scattered around the streets.
I have seen the cost of war, several of my classmates are no longer with us because they fought for freedom. My cousin might have died that day had noone brought their fist down.
Does it make it right...no not at all.
does it make it nessecary, im not in a position to say yes or no.
unfortunately the men in the position to say yes or no might just be underqualified for that position
my 2 cents
