I've been watching an eBay auction for a week. I meant to bid at the end. Instead? I completely forgot. I looked in three hours before the end, then-- poof. Idiot. Idiot! It didn't meet the reserve, however, so I wrote the seller. We'll see. Damn. And I even dreamed about it last night!

Spent today painting my sister's basement with her husband. The first coat is complete, and in some places, bits of the second. Sigh.

At long last, I ordered a new brush for my vacuum. It's been several months since I've been able to vacuum this damned place.

I'm watching the Iams Eukanuba National Championship Dog Show, and I'm thinking, "Clue moves like that. Clue has expression like that. Clue has breeding like that." Larry mentioned he might be able to drive through Tennessee on his way to Texas, and he wouldn't mind taking Clue to Lacy. I'd LOVE to get her points. I know she could do it. And whereas I once thought she was getting too old, some of the dogsin the ring tonight are four, five, seven, even eleven years old. We'll see.

One other thing: yeah, a poodle in a show cut looks utterly ridiculous, but take that away, and you have a ferociously intelligent, warm, affectionate dog. I'm a Collie girl, but I do have to break down and admit I love Standard Poodles.

Ahh, yes, the Standard Poodle. Lovable, huggably poofy, razor-sharp vision, a working brain... and seperation anxiety through the roof. Ok, not all of them, just my mother's pup. They can't leave Copper in the car even for 5 minutes without him exploding into a hundred barking, whining, wheezing, drooling, dog pieces. They can, however, now leave him at home for hours on end if needed - no crate. He's a freak. Smart, yes. Emotionally stable, no. 'Course my mother does nothing to discourage this in him. I think she has this sick thing about being needed to the point of not doing what's healthy for her kids, ahem, uh, dog... I meant dog.

Clue would so get ribbons. She's a beautiful dog and with some training and a good brush out...a winner.

We had a miniature poodle when I was growing up and he was pretty much the smartest dog I'd ever met. My parents had gotten him before they got me (I was found under a rock), and the dog and I grew up together. Max was great, patient, fun to be with, and active for 17 years.
